Introduction

Dumaria Block is the only block of District East Singhbhum under the Jurisdiction of Ghatshila Subdivison to have been declared as Schedule Tribe block. The block headquarter was established on 29th July-1965 and was functioning jointly with Musabani Block at Musabani. The head quarter of Block was shifted to Dumaria in the year 1976. The distance of block headquarter is 70 Kms from District Collectorate and 25 Kms from Sub-divisonal headquarter at Ghatshila. At present the headquarter of  Dumaria blokc is functioning is its own building and is situated in Parulia village which is under the jusrisdiction of Musabani block and is at half Km from Musabani Block headquarter.

            The literacy   rate is 36 %. Total literate Males in this block is 13009 and literate Females in this block are 6212.

            The main profession of people of this block is Agriculture. Most of the people of this  block are below poverty line who are dependent on wages generated from different schemes run by District Administration. Total number of Red Cardholders in this block is 6696.

            There are 66 Anaganwadi Kendras. Under Public Distribution System there are 25 licensed shops. Except Damudih and Bomro panchayats, all panchayats of this  block have post offices namely Dumaria, Bhagabandhi, Bankishol, Badabotla and BadaAasti.

 

Geographical and Physical features

The block headquarter is located at South East direction of District Collectorate. The block is bounded by Dhalbhugarh Block on the east ,     Potka block on the West, Musabani block on the North and Orissa State on the South. Mountains covers most of the region of this  block. The soil of this block is rocky. The main rivers, which flow through this block, are Shankh and Jai.

There is only one pitch road i.e Dumaria-Aasti road in this block which connects 10 villages namely Dumaria, Nischintpur, Kalimati, Seraldih, Chotabotla, Badabotla, Satpuri, Chakdi, Aastakowali and Badaaasti.

The nearest railway station to this block headquarter is Ghatshila railway station which is 25 Kms away from Dumaria Block.

Bus Stand

The distance of nearest bus stand from Block headquarter is 1.5 Kms. The buses ply directly from almost all block headquarters to this block.

Airport

The nearest airport to this block headquarter is located at Jamshedpur i.e Jamshedpur Airport under control of TISCO.
